Two miles east of downtown Ojai... past crowded streets and the hustle and bustle of town, sits Boccali's Pizza and Pasta amidst magnificent mountain vistas, and beneath a blanket of crowning oaks. The Boccali family has proudly served the people of Ojai and their visitors, for over a decade, starting back in 1986.
Boccali's serves home style entrees, that are made fresh to order. The pizza dough is still hand-rolled to order, and topped with a flavorful zesty sauce, and customers can choose from a wide variety of toppings. A large garden behind the restaurant provides summer produce, such as tomatoes, basil, eggplant, peppers, onions, and garlic, all freshly picked and used daily when in season. The eggplant Parmesan and the pasta items on the menu are exceptional. The restaurant is family-style, with indoor and outdoor patio dining, and seasonal dining in the park-like lawn area for groups dining "al fresco".
Reviews from Publications and Diners
We just had our "rehearsal picnic" for our son's wedding at Boccali's, and it was wonderful. Especially the strawberry shortcake. We had a great experience - the servers were wonderful and very nice, people of all ages had a good time, and the food was delicious! Thanks!

This small, wood-frame restaurant among citrus groves is a pastoral spot where patrons eat at picnic tables under umbrellas and oak trees, or inside at tables covered with red-and-white checked oilcloths. Pizza is the main dish served, topped California-style with the likes of crab, garlic, shrimp, and chicken. I think Boccali's lasagna (served piping hot en casserole) would win a statewide contest hands down. Fresh lemonade, from fruit plucked from local trees, is the drink of choice. Come hungry, and plan on sharing.
Frommer's Review
The food here is fantastic - I mean, not the best Italian food ever, but really good. The people-watching opportunities at this place are even better. Ladies who lunch on vacation and scar-faced bikers - all vying for spots on the patio under the oak trees. Behind the restaurant is a huge grassy area to sit or let your kids loose to burn off some steam. There's not much seating indoors so expect to eat outside, and if it's raining, head someplace else.
