This charming restaurant boasts a cowboy-friendly vibe with an unbeatable Sunday barbeque. The Deer Lodge maintains an atmosphere of ruggedness and independence while expressing something romantic and cozy, a sort of “cowboy highlife”. The upstairs and downstairs dining rooms and tavern-like bar blend an air of a cozy, hunting lodge with the genuine comfort of a well tended home.
Reviews from Publications and Diners
We rode our motorcycles to the Deer Lodge and the rugged look and feel was great,as far as the service and food I would have to rate them a 6 out of ten.

I am 77 years old and ride a Harley. I wouldn't consider a ride to Ojai without a stop for the great food at the Deer Lodge. Thanks for making bikers feel so welcome.

The burger my boyfriend had was great, and the tuna sandwich was very tasty. The fries were terrific, too. The best part though was all the beer on tap...it was 108 degrees outside! I could have done without all the taxidermic wild animals, but otherwise it was a great place for a burger and a beer.

Once considered to be a biker bar, Ojai's oldest eatery serves a surprisingly good meal of wild game and excellent sides. Not many other establishments in Southern California are brave enough to serve deer to their patrons. Not many other places would mount a Jacklope head on the wall. Few places, even if they serve Guinness beer on tap will pour it correctly. The Deer Lodge in Ojai does all three. It's a manly enough place to eat at with your buddies after a hard day of goofing off, yet can be romantic enough to bring your wife to on an anniversary dinner and not get in trouble. The food is fresh and good. The service is fine and the atmosphere is rugged, solid and woodsy.
